Xu Bing: Thought and Method
adalah pameran tunggal Xu Bing,
perupa kenamaan asal Tiongkok,
di Asia Tenggara. Menampilkan
lebih dari 60 karya yang dibuat
selama lebin dari dekade, termasuk
drawing, cetakan, instalasi dan
film, pameran ini mengajak audiens
untuk mendalami kekaryaan Xu
Bing, termasuk metodologi dan
motivasi di balik telaah artistiknya.

Tentang Xu Bing:

Xu Bing lahir di Chongqing, Tiongkok, 1955.
Ia lulus dari Central Academy of Fine Arts
(CAFA) di Beijing pada 1981, kemudian bekerja
di sana sebagai guru. Ia kemudian pindah ke
Amerika Serikat pada 1990. Ia kini tinggal dan
berkarya di Beijing dan New York.
Pada 1999, ia dianugerahi penghargaan
bergengsi untuk warganegara Amerika,
MacArthur Fellowship. Pada 2015, Xu Bing
mendapat Medal of Arts dari Art in Embassies
(AIE), bagian dari Kementerian Luar Negeri
Amerika Serikat. Karya Xu Bing telah dikoleksi
dan dipamerkan di berbagai museum dan
institusi seni ternama, termasuk Metropolitan
Museum of Art, Museum of Modern Art,
dan Solomon R. Guggenheim di New York,
juga British Museum di London.

Xu Bing: Thought and Method
is the first solo exhibition of
renowned Chinese artist
Xu Bing in South East Asia.
Featuring over 60 works created
within four decades of artistic
practice, including drawing, prints,
installations, and films, the exhibition
invites audiences to delve into
Xu Bing’s body of work, his
methodology, and the motivation
behind his artistic inquiry.

About Xu Bing:

Xu Bing was born in Chongqing, China, 1955.
He graduated from the Central Academy of
Fine Arts in Beijing (CAFA) in 1981 and stayed
there as a teacher. He moved to the United
States in 1990. He currently lives and works
in Beijing and New York. In 1999, Xu Bing was
awarded a MacArthur Fellowship. In 2015,
he was awarded the Medal of Arts by the
U.S. Department of State’s office of Art in
Embassies (AIE). Xu Bing’s artworks have
been widely collected by and exhibited
at major art museums and institutions,
including the Metropolitan Museum of Art,
the Museum of Modern Art, the Solomon
R. Guggenheim Museum in New York,
the British Museum in London.
